A Utica father is facing child endangerment charges for allegedly leaving his child outside, crying in the rain.
Police say it happened around 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at 929 Hillcrest Avenue.
When they got there, police say they found a 7-year-old boy standing outside the front door of the home crying. Police say there was no adult there.
Police say the child told them he hadn't seen his father since returning from school around 3:30 p.m.
The father, 52-year-old Lewis Edgecomb Sr., came home about 15 minutes later, telling police he was only gone for a few minutes.
He's charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Child Protective Services was later contacted.
