SYRACUSE -- Update:

Two people were sent to the hospital following an overnight crash involving a Syracuse police cruiser.

It happened around 12:50 a.m. on West Genesee Street near Eureka Street.

Syracuse police say Officer Autumn Tharrett was driving a police cruiser westbound on West Genesee Street when a 2010 Kia four door sedan heading eastbound entered the westbound lane.

The Kia was being driven by Andrew Sullivan, 23, of Syracuse. Officer Tharrett was transported to Upstate Hospital and was treated for a laceration to her head. Andrew Sullivan and his passenger, Kaylee Hale, 19, of Liverpool, were transported to Crouse Irving Hospital. Sullivan was treated for a sore hip and Hale complained of abdominal pain.

Injuries to everyone involved are considered non-life threatening. All parties were treated and released.

The investigation found Sullivans' vehicle drifted into the westbound lane after he focused his attention on another vehicle that had just driven past him. Police say Sullivan had intended to make a left turn just prior to the crash.

Sullivan will appear in Syracuse City Traffic Court at a later date to answer the charge of failure to yield the right of way while making a left turn.
