SCHUYLER -- Two Rome men are accused of stealing scrap metal from a business.

State Police were called to a burglary at Digeorgio Enterprise at 3367 State Route 5 in the Town of Schuyler around 12:45 a.m. Thursday.

Police say two men stole scrap metal from inside an unlocked shed on the property. They arrested 44-year-old John Sabatino, of 306 Depeyster Street, and 27-year-old Shawn Russell, of 308 Depeyster Street. Both are charged with burglary and grand larceny.

The two men were arraigned in the Town of Schuyler Court and sent to the Herkimer County Jail on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bail bond.

If convicted, what should be the punishment for these men? Why does it seem like we hear more about instances of scrap metal theft these days? Leave your thoughts below.
