Syracuse wide receiver Marcus Sales was arrested on Friday night and is facing felony drug charges after being arrested with his brother. Syracuse Police have confirmed that the 21-year-old was in a car with his older brother, Michael, when police stopped the vehicle for running a red light near Midland and Ballantyne Avenues around 9:45pm. Police say there was an odor of marijuana in the car and that Sales did not have a driver's license with him. Police say they also found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the car. At that point, and the two brothers were taken into custody. Syracuse Police have confirmed Sales admitted he had been drinking alcohol.

Both Sales brothers were charged with fifth and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana. They're accused of possessing pills with intent to sell. Marcus is also was charged with passing a red light, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle, as well as violating the city's open container law. Both brothers were released from custody after being arraigned on Saturday.

CNYCentral received a statement from SU Head Coach Doug Marrone which reads  "We are aware of the charges against Marcus Sales. We will continue to work with the proper authorities and the University, and will handle the matter internally, according to University and Athletics Department policies."

This could be a big blow for the SU Football team, as Sales was expected to play a big role at wide receiver in his senior season. After being left off the depth chart early last season, Sales improved his play, capping off the season with a memorable three touchdown performance in SU's Pinstripe Bowl win over Kansas State.

This incident also comes on the heels of another blow for the team. Early friday morning, SU running back Prince-Tyson Gulley was stabbed on the University's south campus.

Do these two incidents have you worried about the future of the team, especially for the upcoming season?
