Can music help heal?  Upstate Medical University students have formed a Music and Medicine Initiative to explore that, and to include the community in their music therapy efforts.  Anastomosis is the name of the group that's organizing cross-disciplinary events about healthcare.

Dan Harris, who's just finished his first year of medical school, joined us--ukelele in hand--to talk about their first outreach effort:   He says that incorporating music can de-stress patients, and caregivers as well.

Keys for Cancer, an evening of musical performances is set for Saturday at 7pm at SU's Hendricks Chapel. Classical piano, vocal performances, comments on alternative approaches to healing are on the agenda, and Dan will greet, accompanied by his ukelele.  Tickets in advance or at the door, to benefit Upstate programs and services.
