WAYNE & CAYUGA COUNTIES -- The Red Cross has been helping victims from Sunday's storms, however, the organization says there is no need to open a shelter in Cayuga County. The Red Cross reports while many are still without power; residents either have generators or will be staying with relatives.

Severe thunderstorms, some causing damage, ripped through parts of Central New York Sunday afternoon.
Damage was reported in both Cayuga and Wayne Counties. In Savannah, which is in Wayne County about 20 miles from the Waterloo Outlets, five properties were damaged. The damage includes trees on houses and scattered debris. The Red Cross is helping out two of those families.
The Red Cross has set up a Red Cross reception center at the Conquest Fire Department. That's located on Slayton Road in Port Byron. Due to wind and tree damage to about eight homes along Aldrich Road in Port Byron, the Red Cross is helping 14 adults. Officials are assessing the damage to determine if a Red Cross shelter will be needed.
