SCHUYLER, HERKIMER CO. -- Two people are facing charges in an armed robbery in Herkimer County.

It happened just after 1 p.m. Monday at the Dari Del store at 2285 State Route 5 in the Town of Schuyler.

Witnesses say a man entered the store and flashed a handgun, demanding money from the register.

Utica police later spotted a car matching the description of the car seen leaving the scene of the robbery at the intersection of Albany Road and Pond Road in the City of Utica.

State Police later arrested 24-year-old Joel Young and 22-year-old Christina Sorrentino, both of Hartwick. They're charged with first degree robbery, a felony.

Young and Sorrentino were arraigned in the Town of Herkimer Court and sent to the Herkimer County Jail on $100,000 cash or $200,000 bail bond.
