SALINA -- Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the assault of a 12-year-old boy in Salina. Investigators say the boy was home alone and sleeping when a man broke in and started beating him.
Deputies say it happened early Thursday morning at the Orchard Estates Apartment Complex, on Endres Drive off of Brewerton Road (Route 11) in Mattydale. Deputies say the attacker took off and the victim went to a relatives home for help. Deputies say the victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital where he is being treated. He is expected to be okay.
Neighbors tell CNY Central this attack has been very hard on the kids who live in the neighborhood, and are friends with the victim.
The suspect is described to be an adult white or hispanic male, possibly in his 40s. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Department at 435-3081.
