SYRACUSE -- Organizers of the second healthy pet clinic in Syracuse say they knew dozens of people would show up Sunday afternoon -- but admit, the turnout was overwhelming.

The clinic, put on by the Shamrock Animal Fund and CNY Animal Welfare Coalition, serves pets that have owners with financial limitations from Syracuse's near and south west- side neighborhoods.  It was scheduled to start at 1 pm Sunday afternoon, but long lines along Gifford Street around 11:30 am prompted volunteers to open the doors to St. Lucy's Church early.

Organizers say more than 100 animals were given exams, vaccinations and other care -- all for a requested donation of $10.

"Clearly, we're showing what need a there is for this," said veterinarian Marcia Ziegler-Alexander.  "I just think we've hit the tip of the iceberg."

Another clinic is scheduled for November 13th from 1-4 pm at St. Lucy's Church.
