Marcus Sales has been cleared of charges by an Onondaga County Grand Jury, but not by Syracuse University quite yet. The suspended SU football player and former CBA high school stand-out was picked- up by police in August and was facing several drug charges. Those drug charges have now been dropped, however his brother Michael Sales is still facing a list of charges including criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession.
SU Head Football Coach Doug Marrone spoke briefly about his suspended wide receiver on Wednesday night, saying Syracuse University has to deal with their end of this case before he can even begin to discuss Sales, and his potential future with the team.
"It's good for Marcus to have this legal process behind him," said Marrone, "as you know the University has a student judicial process. Until that is complete I can't discuss any details."
Sales is still enrolled in classes at Syracuse University, but his legal problems and potential to return to the team has not been a distraction to the SU players according to Marrone.
"I think this team has done a very good job of staying focussed on the task at hand, and that's playing this game. There's a lot of things that have happened during this year, not just one, so I think the team has done a very good job of that."
