LIVERPOOL -- Fire investigators are looking into what caused a fire at a Halloween party in Liverpool.

Moyers Corners firefighters say flames started shooting out of the home at 10 Blueberry Road in the Bayberry neighborhood around 9 o'clock Sunday night.

Patricia Jamison, who has lived in the home about seven years, says she was throwing a Halloween party for her niece, nephew, and grandchildren.  About 30 people were in the home at the time of the fire.

Jamison says, during the party, her sister went upstairs, and noticed a fire in an upstairs bedroom.

"They ran to get water, but once they got the water, the flames just busted out, so everyone got out of the house, and I called 911," says Jamison.

Fire crews say they were able to contain the fire to the upstairs, but the second floor and the roof were still badly damaged.

Fortunately, everyone was able to get out of the house safely.

"Somebody could've gotten hurt," says Jamison.   "There were so many people, if we didn't all get out, somebody could've died.  We had little kids here, so I think God for that."

Edward Stevens, the deputy fire chief of the Moyers Corners Fire Department, says, even though the cause of this fire is still under investigation, everyone should think about fire safety if they're holding a Halloween party.

Stevens says make sure the entrance to the home is clear, so people can get out and fire crews can get in if there is an emergency.   If you're going to a party, don't park in front of fire hydrants.  Also, be careful where you put decorations, and make sure they are not near flames.
