OSWEGO -- A search is expected to resume Tuesday morning in the Oswego River after a report of a possible drowning.

Oswego Police reported Monday afternoon they were unable to save a man who may have jumped into the Oswego River. Police and fire personnel say they threw rescue rings and bags into the river while the fire department's rescue boat was on the way. When that was unsuccessful, divers hit the waiter to look for the man. He was last seen above water near the Captain's Quarters hotel.

Oswego County 911 says the initial emergency call came in at 3:02 p.m. for a person who may have jumped off the Utica Street bridge. A State Police Helicopter was also involved, in addition to the Oswego Police and Fire Departments.

Police say they have not yet been able to identify the victim, but do not suspect foul play. They are asking possible witnesses or anyone with information to call them at 342-8120.
