SYRACUSE -- A pit bull investigators say may have been starved has now made a full recovery.

CNY SPCA Executive Director Paul Morgan says Princess the pit bull is back to her correct weight of about 50 pounds. When she was rescued from a Syracuse basement in early November, Princess only weighed about 25 pounds.

While Princess is doing much better, Morgan says she won't be available for adoption for a long time. Her owner, Wendy Collins, is facing two animal cruelty charges. Princess can't be adopted until the court case is resolved. In order for her to be adopted, Collins must surrender Princess, or the court must order the dog be turned over to the SPCA.

Collins has pleaded not guilty to charges of failing to provide proper sustenance and failing to provide veterinary care. She is scheduled to be back in court on December 15th.
