SYRACUSE -- A busy downtown street is back open after a water main break.

The water main break was reported early Thursday morning on Fayette Street, according to a press release from the Syracuse mayor's office. The road was blocked between Salina Street and Warren Street.

A boil water advisory has not been issued, and the city says only one building has reported a disruption of water service. Officials say it was the building that includes the Rite Aid on the corner of Fayette Street and Salina Street.

City Hall says while repairing the first break, crews found a second break in the same area and are continuing to work on repairs.

The city says the break likely happened because of the age of the pipes and surrounding infrastructure.

The break was repaired and streets reopened by 2:30pm Thursday afternoon.

Centro busses are back on their regular schedule.
