SYRACUSE -- Dan Leonard, who is an adult survivor of child sexual abuse is a key speaker at Thursday's town hall event at Onondaga Community College.

Leonard lived with the secret of his abuse at the ages of 13 and 14 until the 1990s. Ahead of the event, he told CBS 5's Michael Benny that there are always clear warning signs including "one on one" time between an adult and a child, and he says there should never be a "special relationship" between a young person and an adult they are in contact with through sports or the arts.

The McMahon/Ryan Center's town hall meeting on preventing child abuse in youth athletics begins at 6:30 Thursday evening at OCC's Storer Auditorium. You can watch it live from home if you can't make it there.

We will be airing the entire town hall on our CNY Central station. You can find it on Time Warner Cable channel 864, Verizon FiOS channel 460, and over the air channel 3.3. The event will also be streaming here on our website, www.CNYcentral.com.
