EAST SYRACUSE -- Hundreds of Central New Yorkers were ready for their close up on Saturday or at least ready to be in the background. Production staff from the new film "Adult World"were set up at the Best Western in East Syracuse as part of a casting call for movie extras. All the potential extras got a number, had their head shot taken and had a chance to meet with the casting department.

Courtney Rae Kasper had been an extra on the 2003 film "Big Fish" when she lived in Alabama. Now she's hoping to add another film to her profile. "It's such great experience for someone who might be interested in acting or who wants to be a part of something going on in their community," said Kasper.

Crowds of people were moving in and out of the casting room all Saturday afternoon. Daniel Lawless and Dorothy Booher from Fayetteville even talked their mother into coming down to the casting call.

"When it's all said and done and the movie is complete, you were a part of it - which you can always look back on and feel good about because you showed up," said Lawless.

"Adult World" will star Emma Roberts as a college graduate who wants to be a poet but winds up working in an adult bookstore. The production manager says the crew has been very happy with what they've seen of the people and locations in the Syracuse area.

"It's really nice to see the different packets of neighborhoods that are around town. Everything has it's own feel. There's different areas that are totally different from the others and that's exciting," said Corey Deckler.

Deckler said the film is expected to start shooting on February 3rd at several locations around Syracuse.
