The day after the Super Bowl, there is controversy swirling around not what happened on the field, but rather what happened during the halftime show. Did you see it?

Singer MIA gave the middle finger to the camera during her song "Give Me All Your Luvin." It happened so fast, many viewers missed it.

The NFL later released a statement, saying "There was a failure in NBC's delay system. The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologize to our fans."

An NBC spokesperson quickly responded to the criticism, saying "The NFL hired the talent and produced our halftime show. Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers."

This is all reminiscent of the controversy that erupted following the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show. Janet Jackson infamously exposed her breast during a performance with Justin Timberlake. The incident was later described as a "wardrobe malfunction."

Jackson later apologized for the incident, as did CBS and MTV which produced the show.

Were you offended by this year's halftime show? Who should be held responsible? Should the NFL, NBC or the singer be slapped with a fine? Does the FCC need to do more to maintain decency on the airwaves? Leave your thoughts below.
