SYRACUSE -- Two people were taken to the hospital after a two-car crash on Monday morning.

It happened at the corner of James Street and Teall Avenue in Syracuse around 6:25 am.

Syracuse police say a 54-year-old Liverpool woman, who was driving a 2004 Dodge Stratus, ran a red light, slamming into a 44-year-old man, driving a 2009 Volkswagen four-door sedan.

The drivers were transported to St. Joseph's Hospital by Rural Metro ambulance and are expected to be okay.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.

A portion of James Street was blocked until cleanup is complete.
