Groundbreaking April 16th for renovation project
The 'Johnson Family Project' aims to renovate retired Syracuse firefighter Dave Johnson's Tully home--he's raised 26 children there.
A retired Syracuse firefighter and his wife have raised 26 children--3 their own, the rest adopted--in a tiny home in Tully. Now other firefighters are working to give Dave and Dianne Johnson--and the children still with them-- a bit more than their 3-bedroom, 2 bath ranch to live in.
Scott McClurg's renovation and construction company is spearheading the effort. He tells us that they were looking to get the project on 'Extreme Home Makeover,' but the show is no longer running, so the local group decided to do it themselves, setting up a Facebook page to coordinate volunteers and accept donations. McClurg, himself a retired Syracuse firefighter, says they plan to break ground April 16th and work round the clock til it's done.
