POMPEY -- A home in Pompey was destroyed in a fire Tuesday afternoon.

Onondaga County 911 dispatchers told CNY Central an emergency call came in around 3:45 p.m. for a fire at 1998 Oran Delphi Road, near the intersection with Delphi Falls Road not far from the Delphi Falls Golf Course.

Firefighters told CNY Central's Caitlin Nuclo no one was home at the time, but a dog and a few cats were rescued.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Firefighters are still trying to determine where in the home the fire started, and what set it off.

The local Red Cross chapter says its Disaster Action Team provided immediate assistance to a family of three who lost their home as a result of the fire. The Red Cross says it has helped five families in Onondaga and Oswego counties in the past 48 hours.
