CORTLAND -- One of the hottest names in sports will be coming to Central New York, unless a technicality derails the trade.
Wednesday afternoon, the NY Jets announced a trade that will bring quarterback Tim Tebow to New York. The Jets will be in Cortland this summer for training camp.
The Jets passed on training camp in Cortland before last season because of the lockout. However, we spoke with Cortland's Chamber of Commerce shortly after the trade announcement. Chamber leaders say the team will be back this summer.
The training camp helps bring money and fans to the city of Cortland. During the summer of 2010 around 41,000 people visited the SUNY Cortland campus, bringing in nearly $6 million to the local economy.
Tebow has been playing for the Denver Broncos, but the Broncos recently picked up star Peyton Manning from the Indianapolis Colts. Since the trade was announced, it has hit a snag. The Jets would have to pay extra money to fulfill Tebow's contract with the Broncos. We will keep you updated on the status of the trade.
