Maritime Museum bringing in re-enactors to help set the stage
100 years ago on Tuesday (April 10) the Titanic left port--she sank on the 15th.
'The Spirit of the Titanic' is the theme, as Oswego's H. Lee White Marine Museum notes the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the luxury ship.
Museum executive director Mercedes Niess says the party, at Oswego's American Foundry on Saturday night, will recreate a first class dinner (8 courses with wine pairings) , music and dancing aboard the ship, with the help of period character performers. There will also be a silent auction, and guest picture taking on the backdrop of the ship's grand staircase.
Guests are encouraged to dress in evening clothes of the 1912 era, and many have been taking dancing lessons at Oswego's YMCA, on the music of the time (the last session is this Thursday evening).
Reservations for the Maritime Museum benefit have closed, but there's more information at their website or at 342-0480
