BOUCKVILLE -- A local non-profit agency is asking for help to save a stray dog who could help people with disabilities.

Heritage Farm is an organization in Bouckville that helps people with disabilities on a working farm in rural Madison County. On Thursday, site manager Danielle Campbell says workers rescued a stray dog from a culvert and took her to the veterinarian.

Campbell says the vet told her the dog, who they named Charlotte, has a leg that is completely shattered and needs to be removed. If Charlotte cannot get the surgery, she will have to be euthanized. The cost of the surgery is around $2,500, too expensive for Heritage Farm to handle alone.

If Charlotte can be saved, a worker will adopt her, and the dog can provide therapy for people with disabilities at Heritage Farm.

If you can help Charlotte, call Heritage Farm at 315-893-1889. Any donations will go to Heritage Farms’ general fund to help offset the cost of Charlotte’s surgery.
