TULLY -- Every 11 minutes breast cancer claims a life.
Monday night it was 60 minutes of lacrosse in honor of those who lost their battle and give hope to those who are still fighting it.
"This is definitely our biggest game. We have the most fans here today, out of any other game, so it's really an intense feeling. We want to go out and win and support the cause," said Tully lacrosse player Alexis Drumm.
"We actually had a community member, Patricia Bailey, who passed away on the day of our cancer game one year. So it was sad moment but we all pulled together as a community," said Tully player Amanda Briggs.
Five years later, they're still playing with heavy hearts for Bailey. The annual "Under the Lights" benefit game raises awareness and money to fund critical research, needed to save future lives.
"It definitely gives me a big incentive to go out and go hard and give it my all," said Bishop Ludden player Alex Szelewski.
Tully took on Bishop Ludden, both teams wore pink and were both "sticking it" to cancer.
"I think it's a great lesson to teach children as far as community involvement. Breast cancer has affected many individuals, all of us has been touched in some way," said organizer JoAnn Featherstone.
The Carol M. Baldwin Foundation was involved with the event too. Baldwin opened the game by thanking the crowd for their continued support.
Last year they raised $13,000 and this year the goal is to raise at least $10,000. All of the money stays local to help people in Central New York.
