The new owners of the iconic Hofmann Sausage Company are renewing a decades old relationship.

Hofmann is once again distributing hot dogs directly to Heid's of Liverpool. Heid's has sold Hofmann hot dogs for nearly 90 years, but the two companies had a very public split in 1993. At the time Heid's started marketing its own brand. Hofmann started opening Hofmann Hot Haus restaurants during the split.

Hofmann and Heid's got back together in 1997, but Heid's had to buy the hot dogs through a third party distributor. The new deal eliminates the middle man.

Earlier this month, the Hofmann brand was bought by a Dallas-based company, with investors including the Oneida Nation and Syracuse University basketball coach Jim Boeheim.
