SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police have identified the pedestrian that was hit by a car and critically injured on Saturday night, May 19.

Police say 59-year-old Henry Mitchell, of Syracuse, was struck by a car on the 400 block of James Street just a few blocks from the Sunoco station at the corner of State and James Streets around 10:40pm last Saturday night.

Police say Mitchell was trying to cross the street when he was hit.

The Post-Standard reported that the car’s hood was dented and the windshield was broken from the impact. Witnesses said Mitchell flew through the air after being hit.

Mitchell was transported to Upstate Hospital where he is currently listed in critical, but stable condition.

The accident is still under investigation.
