Person saved from burning home, fire deemed suspicious

ROME -- A person is saved from a burning home in Oneida County and now the fire is considered suspicious.

It happened Monday afternoon around 4:00 pm at 8491 Elmer Hill Road.

County Deputies say there was a report of someone trespassing on the property and upon arrival discovered the residence was on fire.

Lake Delta Fire and Rome Fire Departments responded to the scene and were able to rescue an individual from the home.

The individual was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital.

The fire is currently deemed suspicious and is being investigated by the Oneida County Sherriff's Office.
