Tiger Woods tees off at Turning Stone.

Come Sunday night NBC will have a prime time smash hit featuring a prime time star. Thanks to the three hour West Coast time shift the final groups in the U.S. Open golf tournament will make the turn into the final nine holes as the prime time hour begins. The way the leaderboard looks tonight the presence of Tiger Woods will likely send golf ratings to record numbers.
Tiger's self-imposed personal problems both on and off the course have dimmed interest in golf for all but the most avid fans. Two weeks ago as he birdied his way to his second win of the season at The Memorial. Viewership was higher than all the other non-Tiger tournaments.
This weekend at San Francisco's Olympic Club it's more likely he will par his way to his 15th major win. He will fend off worthy contenders like Jim Furyk, David Toms and some yet to be noticed experienced pro. All of it happening between the hours of 7:00 and 10:00 pm will ensure a whale of an available audience.
Tiger's luster is not what it once was, but his game is getting close. We will all get a front row seat Sunday night on NBC 3.
