LAFAYETTE, NY -- A Town of Onondaga woman is facing DWI charges after police say her car hit a telephone pole right across the street from the New York State Police barracks in Lafayette.

Police say Sheila Ganey, 50, was driving south on State Route 11 in Lafayette Friday night when she fell asleep at the wheel.  Her car crossed the center line of the road and ran into a telephone pole.

The accident knocked out power in the area for about an hour.  Police say Ganey had alcohol in her system at the time of the crash.

She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Lafayette court to answer to multiple charges at a later date.
