SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police are investigating a hit and run crash that left a man seriously injured. It happened Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the 200 block of Robinson Street on the city's north east side.

Police say they found a man who had been riding a bicycle and had been struck by a vehicle. Police are asking for help finding the driver who took off after the crash.

Police identified the man Monday as 37-year-old William Fischer, of Syracuse. He was taken to Upstate Hospital for a head injury and is listed in critical condition.

The suspect vehicle was headed west on Robinson Street and was last seen headed northbound on Winton Street after the crash. It is described as a black colored SUV, possibly a Jeep or Land Rover, with white license plates.

Police say the suspect vehicle was being operated by a black male who appeared to be in his teens. The vehicle should have minor damage to the front passenger side front bumper or front passenger side quarter panel.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Syracuse Police Department Traffic Division at 442-5151 or Officer Boris at 263-1524.
