VERONA -- The world's most famous golfer will be making another stop in Central New York this summer to help out an old friend.

14 time major winner and former world's #1 golfer Tiger Woods will return to Turning Stone Resort on August 29 to take part in the fifth annual Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge at the Atunyote golf course. This will be the third time Woods plays in the Challenge, following stops last year and in 2009. The event benefits the NB3 Foundation, founded by Woods' college teammate and fellow pro golfer Notah Begay III, which helps fund the health and wellness of Native American children.

"I'm happy and humbled to announce that the Challenge will celebrate its fifth anniversary this year," said Begay in a statement to the media. "This event has played such a huge part in helping the NB3 Foundation in its mission of empowering Native youth to sustain active, healthy and productive lives."

The participants and date of this year's Challenge were announced at a news conference Monday morning. In addition to Woods, Begay, Ricky Fowler, K.J. Choi, Cristie Kerr, Gary Woodland, Y.E. Yang, Charlie Wi, Danny Lee, Lexi Thompson, Se Ri Pak, and Yani Tseng (the world's current top ranked female golfer) were said to be taking part. A new format will be used to pair the golfers in a mixed team best ball tournament, with American and Asian players facing off for a shot at $450,000 in prizes.

Ricky Fowler was great with the children who are his biggest fans.

The Oneida Indian Nation says all proceeds from the tournament go directly to benefit the Notah Begay III Foundation, which has raised more than $3 million over the first four events.
