DEWITT -- Six people were arrested Thursday afternoon while protesting at Hancock Air Field.
A total of 15 people gathered at the air base around 11 a.m. to protest the use of unmanned drones from the air base. They were were blocking inbound and outbound traffic lanes, according to State Police.
At 12:15 p.m., State Police and Dewitt Police told the protesters that they were trespassing and would be arrested if they did not leave.
"This isn't just an idealistic exercise," said Ed Kinane, "these drones that assassinate people in various countries overseas create enormous hostility toward the U.S. because of civilian deaths."
Around 1:40 p.m., all 15 were arrested by State Police, DeWitt Police, and the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office.
The following were arrested by State Police for trespass and were given appearance tickets to show up at the Town of DeWitt Court at a later date:
-Elliott D. Adams, 65, of Sharon Springs
-Daniel E. Burgevin Sr., 65, of Trumansburg
-Judith A. Homanich, 63, of Binghamton
The following were arrested by the State Police for Trespass and released to the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office with active warrants:
-Edward F. Kinane, 67, of Syracuse
-Mark Scibilia-Carver, 59, of Trumansburg
-Mary A. Snyder, 88, of Johnson City
More than 30 people were arrested in April 2011 for protesting drone use at the air base.
