SYRACUSE -- Two people were injured after a two-car crash left one car resting on top of the other Thursday morning.

Just after 6:20 a.m. Onondaga County 911 received a call about a motor vehicle collision with injuries at the corner of James Street and Oak Street, less than a block from the CNY Central studios.

Once police and fire crews arrived they found a gray Ford sedan on its side, resting on the hood of a red Kia sedan. The street sign on the corner had been leveled by the crash.

Police say the driver of the 2010 Kia, 25-year-old Amanda Voll, was headed north on Oak Street when she ran a red light and struck the 2011 Ford. The driver of the Ford, 30-year-old Dewaki Dhimal of Syracuse, had to be extricated from the vehicle. She and her passenger, 26-year-old Narbada Dhimal, were both taken to a local hospital for precautionary measures after complaining of back pain. Police say Voll refused treatment.

Police say no tickets were issued.
