MADISON COUNTY -- The Madison County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate how a Manlius man died on Cazenovia Lake on Sunday.
Deputies say 64-year-old Arthur Morris III appeared to be fishing in his canoe about 100 feet from shore. Witnesses who were in the area, also in canoes and kayaks, reported the man somehow ended up in the water.
An autopsy suggests that Morris most likely died as a result of existing health issues. Investigators say they do not suspect foul play and have ruled out drowning.
Witnesses told police that Morris was wearing a life jacket.
Police say people in nearby boats pulled the man out of the water, called for help, and attempted to give the man CPR. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Deputies would like to speak with people who were on a newer white boat with a blue stripe and blue sun cover. They believe that boat may have been in the area at the time. They also want to speak with anyone else who may have witnessed something.
They're asking anyone with information to call (315) 366-2311.
