MANLIUS -- Some people bring cameras. Others bring food. Everyone who comes out to the swan pond in Manlius comes with excitement.
Manny, Faye and their four baby swans are a big attraction at the Manlius Swan Pond.
The baby swans turned 1-month-old today.
"We have been out here several times although it's been a couple weeks and they are so much bigger than the last time," says Kate Foster of Manlius. "It's amazing how fast they grew."
The baby swans, Dazzle, Bella, Holly and Laverne, stick close to mom and dad. Mark-Paul Serafin, the mayor of Manlius, says they are growing as expected.
"They're strong, they're vibrant, they are not lethargic," he said. "They're funny. The more you watch them, they each have their own little personality. It's just been a great from tragedy to triumph story for the village of Manlius and for our community."
In April, eggs were taken from the swan pond and destroyed. After that, protective fencing went up and so did video surveillance. Those cameras are still up and volunteers from the swan pond patrol are still out at random times.
After the second batch of eggs hatched last month, people from all over have been coming here to see the village's most famous residents.
Mayor Serafin is hoping that sometime in the future they can have a camera at the pond so that people at home can watch and see what the swans are doing.
