LYONS, WAYNE COUNTY (AP) -- Police in western New York say a 76-year-old woman has been injured by a runaway horse-and-buggy.

Wayne County Sheriff's deputies tell media outlets that Amanda Graber of Lyons was riding in a buggy with her 18-year-old grandson around 5 p.m. Wednesday when the horse got spooked and tore off down the road. The grandson, Joseph Schmucker, jumped to safety before the buggy tipped over but his grandmother was unable to get free. She was dragged in the buggy for several hundred feet.

After neighbors got the horse under control Graber was taken by ambulance to a Rochester hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The incident happened in Lyons, about 30 miles southeast of Rochester.
