SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police say they are investigating a shooting that happened on the 2000 block of South Salina Street on Monday around 10:28 p.m.

Police say 23-year-old Shakeem Kitchen, of Syracuse, was shot in the left ankle by an unknown suspect. Kitchen was taken to Upstate University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Kitchen and several people with him told police that the shots came from a vehicle that was driving-by, but police say they found contradicting evidence.

Police say they found some ballistic evidence on the sidewalk near where Kitchen says he was standing when he was struck.

Police say Kitchen was uncooperative.

Any one with information is asked to call the Syracuse Police at 315-442-5222. All calls will be kept confidential.
