State police issued more than 1,900 speeding violation tickets to Thruway motorists across the state during the recent statewide "Operation Summer Brake" initiative held the last week of August.
The initiative targeted prevention of crash-causing behavior such as aggressive driving, speeding and drunk driving.
State police say thruway troopers are responsible for 55-percent of all speeding tickets statewide. They issue more than 900,000 tickets each year.
