SYRACUSE -- Syracuse police investigating two suspicious incidents.
The first happened on Hier Avenue Wednesday morning. The other happened on Crysler Street early Wednesday afternoon.
In both cases, the elderly homeowner greeted a man at the door who identified himself as a member of the Water Department. Police say the man claimed there was a water problem in the area and asked the homeowner to go to the bathroom and turn on the water faucets. The man entered one home, but it does not appear he stole anything.
In the second incident, the homeowner locked the door before going to the bathroom to run the water faucet. The suspicious man later left without entering the home.
The Water Department says there were no water issues in either area, and all employees must carry identification cards.
Police are now looking for a white man in his 40's or 50's, possibly with brown hair. He has an average build and is about 5'5" to 5'9" tall.
