Dies violent death, 2nd week in a row in Syracuse
Syracuse Police have shut down West Street northbound at Herald Place, as they investigate the injury to a woman
SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police now say a homeless woman, found seriously injured, has died of her injuries.
42-year-old Michelle Noce was apparently living under the Route 690 bridge at Herald Place. Police and Fire Departments were called late Saturday afternoon, when she was found unconscious by a male friend. She had several injuries and was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead just before midnight.
The West Street Arterial northbound, from Genesee Street to the Herald Place ramp was closed while investigators went through the area near Onondaga Creek, a homeless encampment. There are reports that Noce may have been involved in a fight earlier Saturday, with a man, at North Franklin and Herald Place. An autopsy revealed Noce died from a head injury. The manner of death remains undetermined.

This is the second weekend in a row that Syracuse Police have investigated the death of a homeless person. Last weekend, 40-year-old Timothy Wilkin died in another homeless encampment along I-690, apparently from a fire he'd built to keep himself warm. A report on his death is also on our website.
