Cicero man accused of growing 230 marijuana plants worth $500,000

CICERO -- A three month drug investigation leads to the arrest of a Cicero man in a massive marijuana growing operation.

37-year-old Scott Burger, of 5741 Stevens Drive, is facing federal drug charges.

On Thursday night, the Sheriff's Air-1 helicopter located 230 marijuana plants with a street value of $500,000. Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies seized 34 plants Burger is accused of growing about 200 feet off the shoreline of the Seneca River near Caughdenoy Road.

In addition, investigators say they found more than 160 marijuana plants inside Burger's home. Detectives say they also found an irrigation system that ran from his house to a wooded area concealing another 32 plants.

Burger is currently being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center without bail.
