AUBURN -- A Cayuga County man has been found guilty in the brutal murder of his ex-girlfriend.According to the Auburn Citizen, Ryan Brahney was found guilty on all charges in the death of Bridge t Bell.
Brahney was charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of first-degree criminal contempt and one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
A reporter for the Auburn Citizen tweeted, "outside the courthouse, Bell's loved ones cried, smiled, hugged, laughed with relief, and a sense of justice ."
During the trial, Brahney's uncle testified his nephew admitted to killing Bell because she was allowing drug dealers to be around their young child.
Tim Blaisdell told the court Brahney showed up at his apartment in Auburn early on the morning of November 21, 2011 and said he had killed Bell. The Auburn Citizen reports Blaisdell also testified that Brahney's clothing was stained with what appeared to be blood.
Police say when they arrived at Bell's Auburn apartment they found her body with a butcher knife stuck in her chest and blood splattered around the room. Her 3-year-old son slept nearby.
Sentencing is scheduled for Thursday, October 25.
