PARISH -- On Thursday night, at about 9:30 PM, the Oswego County Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal one car accident. It happened at the intersection of County Route 26 and Smokey Hollow Road in the Town of Parish.
According to the Oswego County Sheriff's Office, a vehicle being driven by 51 year old John D. Whitehead was traveling north on County Route 26 and failed to stop at the intersection. The vehicle hit a guard rail and ended up in a small body of water.
Mr. Whitehead was taken from the scene by ambulance and later died as a result of his injuries.
There is an ongoing investigation.
