Governor Andrew Cuomo endoreses Dan Maffei

SYRACUSE -- Governor Andrew Cuomo was in Syracuse on Friday afternoon to endorse congressional candidate Dan Maffei (D).
Maffei is running for congress in the 24th district against Republican incumbent Ann Marie Buerkle and Green Party Candidate Ursula Rozum.
Cuomo says republicans "want to wreak havoc" with government and accused them of imposing tax breaks for the wealthy. He says the republicans want to pass responsibility of Medicaid to the states without proper funding. "They want to pass the buck without passing the buck," Cuomo says.
Maffei referred to the Medicare and Medicaid programs as "sacred promises."
He repeated his campaign mantra that everyone needs a fair shot and addressed education and jobs.
Maffei also appealed to women showing his support for equal pay and said we must "trust women to make their own decisions about healthcare."

I look forward to working with Governor Cuomo to strengthen our middle class, create jobs, and get the economy moving again.” said Dan Maffei. “Governor Cuomo understands that when we grow Central New York’s middle class, our economy thrives, and I am proud to receive his endorsement.”
Last week Bill Clinton was in Syracuse to campaign for Maffei and spoke at the Landmark Aviation hangar at Hancock Airport.
Polls are showing a tight race for the 24th Congressional District seat currently held by Buerkle. She defeated then-incumbent Maffei in a similar matchup two years ago.
