ROMULUS (AP) -- For years, the American soldier's remains were labeled CIL1993-312. On Friday, the Korean War casualty will be buried in upstate New York, now that his name is known.

A funeral for Cpl. Elmer Kidd will take place in Seneca Falls, the Finger Lakes town where he was born and raised. He'll be buried at nearby Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Kidd died in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea in 1950, at the age of 26. North Korea turned over his unidentified remains to the United States in 1993. They were only recently identified using DNA testing that matched them to his 80-year-old sister.

The sister, Alberta Stuck, is the only one of Kidd's nine siblings still alive. She'll be at Friday's service.

Kidd's body was welcomed with honors at Syracuse's Hancock Airport on Tuesday morning.
