SYRACUSE -- After just 14 months, the Shamrock Animal Fund and the Central New York Animal Welfare Coalition served their 1,000th pet at the Healthy Pet Clinic on Sunday.

It was the final Healthy Pet Clinic of 2012 at St. Lucy's Church on Gifford Street, and a cat named Samantha became the 1,000th pet to receive an exam.

Residents on Syracuse's south and near west side with financial need have been served by the Healthy Pet Clinics since they started in the fall of 2011.
