LIVERPOOL -- Danielle Deming's life changed forever on September 11, 2012 when a 32-inch television set crushed her two-year-old daughter, Amaya.
Redefining her life since then, has in many ways, been the hardest part.
"When three or four weeks hit that's when it got hard. Because it was like, my life has changed forever. And I called my mom and I was like I don't even know who I am anymore. I don't know what to do with my time," says Deming.
These says, Deming finds comfort in the foundation she started with her parents, "Safe and Sound with Amaya". Their mission is to make homes safe and prevent other families from living with the heartache and pain they experience every day.
By providing homeowners with brochures and safety kits, they hope to raise awareness for parents, babysitters, caretakers, and anyone who's responsible for the safety and well being of young children.
"You may hear a story on the news and you may think about it or talk about it for a week or two. But if you don't actually know that person, it just leaves your mind. That's what we don't want," says Deming.
There's one simple thing you can do to make your home safe. You can buy anti-tip safety straps which only cost around $20.
Deming is now speaking out, sharing her own painful story, so others can learn.
"I don't want her death to be in vain. I don't want anyone else to have to go through it. If me talking about it saves just one life, it's worth it. That's worth the pain I have to go through," says Deming.
