High School graduation is still 5 months away but CBA, Westhill, Jamesville-Dewitt, and Solvay students already know where they will be going for college.
Monday afternoon 13 CBA seniors announced their intentions to continue their athletic careers at Division 1 programs. CBA Principle Brother Joseph Jozwiak says, “To have over 10% of our senior class be in a position to compete at the highest level is amazing.” The student athletes will attend a variety of schools including 4 in the Ivy League, 5 at Catholic institutions, and 1 at Syracuse University. “The entire CBA community is very proud of these fine young adults and congratulates them on their success” Jozwiak said.
Westhill has two athletes who will continue their baseball careers. Senior Ben Walsh will stay local to play baseball at Le Moyne and he says he’s excited for the opportunity, “I was nervous the whole day, just looking forward to this point. It was a great opportunity for me to be able to sign with Le Moyne.” Iowa University will add shortstop J.C. Pena “To go to Iowa, Division 1, and the Big Ten it’s a dream come true.”
