BLOOMINGTON, MINN. -- Unaccompanied minors are being banned from the Mall Of America on Black Friday.

The Minnesota megamall doesn't want teens to come in and just "hang out" on one of the busiest shopping days of the year, reported the Pioneer Press earlier this week.

Unaccompanied minors will be barred all day November 23rd and the entire week between Christmas and New Year’s. The mall requires minors to be accompanied by parents on Friday and Saturday evenings, according to the Pioneer Press.

Officials don't want a repeat of last year's chair-throwing incident which happened two days after Christmas. Last year the mall saw a record 219,000 shoppers on Black Friday and a flood of young people.

The Pioneer Press reports the surge in shoppers was due in part to stores opening at midnight. Over 180 stores will open at midnight this year and every store will be open by 6a.m. Friday.
