SYRACUSE -- The Symphony Syracuse Orchestra will kick off its new season on December 14 with a Holiday Symphonic Spectacular. It will also announce its new name during a special renaming ceremony during the big event at the Crouse-Hinds Concert Theater at 7:30 p.m.

The Holiday Spectacular will feature a guest vocalist and Syracuse-born conductor Sean O'Loughlin. O'Loughlin is returning to his hometown with a new piece he wrote specifically for the new orchestra, which will also premiere at the holiday show.

Today it was announced that the new orchestra will operate under a "co-op" style model, where everyone involved has a stake in the success of the symphony.

The symphony has already played one concert and will be staging a Nutcracker Ballet this weekend. More information can be found on the Symphony Syracuse website.
